Discover the many ways you can volunteer with the Happiness Foundation. By dedicating your time and energy, you will have the chance to give back to the wonderful people of Bali, connect with other likeminded people and see the island from a new eye-opening perspective.
Alone our impact may be small, but together we can achieve so much. Let’s come together and join forces to transform our vision into action.
Each of us brings unique skills and talents to the table. True magic happens when we unite and combine all of our strengths to collaborate.
Running for charity with the Happy Run Club is more than just exercise
- it is an fun experience filled with purpose. Let's make every step count!
Ultimately, it often comes down to financial support. We encourage you to rally your community and help raise funds for our programs.
Volunteering with the Happiness Foundation is not only a rewarding way to give back to this beautiful island - it’s also a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded people and make new friends!
Our regular volunteer activities include teaching English to underprivileged local children every Friday afternoon and playing games and sports with them every Saturday. You can also join us every 2nd and 4th Sunday, when we cook 200 portions of Nasi Bungkus together with volunteers at our Community Kitchen.
PLEASE NOTE:
We offer our volunteering activities as 50k paid “cultural experiences,” as volunteering in Indonesia is not permitted under immigration regulations and may be considered unauthorized work. This small ticket fee allows everyone to participate while respecting local laws.
Every 2nd and 4th Sunday, our Community Kitchen brings like-minded volunteers together to cook Nasi Bungkus, a traditional Balinese dish and distribute it to those in need.
It is always a joy to chop veggies, fry ingredients and master the art of Indonesian food-wrapping. After cooking, volunteers can join our delivery tour, bringing meals to communities facing food insecurity. It is a unique opportunity to explore Bali beyond the usual tourist spots and gain insight into the challenges faced by many locals.
Join us at Rolling Fork in Uluwatu at 8:00 AM for a fun morning of cooking, sharing and connecting!

Every Friday, volunteers help our EMPOWER kids practise the English they learn in their twice-weekly classes, helping them build valuable skills for a brighter future.
No special teaching skills are required. Our local English teachers lead the lessons and provide all exercises, while volunteers simply show up with a smile and support the kids as they practise. So no worries about your English level - if you can communicate in English, you’re already qualified to help and make a difference.
Join us every Friday at 5:00 PM at the Happy Place in Ungasan for an afternoon of learning and fun.

"Volunteering with the Happiness Foundation has been an incredibly rewarding experience - allowing me to witness firsthand the positive impact this foundation has on the community."

Living in Uluwatu, I always wanted to give back, and I am so happy I found the Happiness Foundation! I've been helping sort through pre-loved clothes -deciding what can be donated to locals and what isn't culturally appropriate for them. The items that can not be donated are sold at tourist markets, with the funds going directly to support the Foundation’s programs.
The team is sooooo friendly and it feels incredible to contribute to something that helps the community I call home.

Teaching English to the kids is one of the best things I’ve ever done! The kids are so sweet and full of energy, and even though they don’t always get everything right away, they’re super excited to learn and try their best. It makes you feel so good knowing you’re helping them.
The whole vibe is super fun. We play games, do little activities, and laugh a lot, so it doesn’t feel like serious “teaching”—it’s just a great time. If you’re thinking about volunteering, you should definitely do it. The kids will totally steal your heart!

Helping out at the Community Kitchen is such a vibe! You don’t need to know how to cook or anything - they will show you what to do and it is actually really fun.
You get to work with super cool people and by the end, you’ve made a bunch of food that’s going to help people in need.
If you’re looking for a way to give back and have fun, this is it! Plus, the people you work with are so lovely - it’s like hanging out with a bunch of awesome new friends while doing something meaningful!

Yes, remote volunteering is possible! While many activities are in-person in Bali, we also offer virtual opportunities, such as supporting our education program, content creation or spreading awareness. Contact us to explore how you can get involved from wherever you are!
Our founder Tatjana always says: “You won’t believe how many blessings will come your way once you start giving to others first.”
And with our Giving Back Card, this becomes true instantly: give your time and skills to support locals in need in Bali, and Bali’s businesses give back to you — offering 15–20% discounts as their way of saying "Thank You".
Every time you join one of our activities, you will receive your personalized Giving Back Card — valid for the next 14 days. With it, you can enjoy discounts at some of Bali’s favorite restaurants, wellness centers and sports clubs.
Because giving back isn’t just about charity — it is about building a community where we all support and uplift each other.
