Our free English classes empower local children with the skills needed to pursue better opportunities in tourism, which could be their key to breaking the cycle of poverty.

We are always looking for kind-hearted school fee sponsors to ensure that the kids in our EMPOWER program can continue their education at their regular local schools.

Education is the key to a better future. Unfortunately, in Bali, children born into disadvantaged circumstances often do not have a birth certificate and therefore are unable to access free public education and must enroll in private schools.
This situation creates a heavy financial burden for many families, leaving numerous children without access to the education they deserve.

English Classes
A Chance for a Better Life Through English Lessons
Our main initiative at the Happy Place is our free English program, running Monday to Thursday and led by our four amazing English teachers using our own Happy Place English Curriculum.
The kids are split into two groups, each attending twice a week for two hours. They spend one hour in Classic English, building grammar and vocabulary, and one hour in Creative English, putting what they have learned into practice through fun, interactive activities.
This approach combines learning with practice, helping the kids make real progress while keeping English fun, engaging and inspiring.

Building Confidence: The Transformative Power of Expression
For children facing economic hardship, our Art, Music and Movement classes offer far more than just learning new skills.
The focus and dedication required to complete an artwork, practise an instrument, learn a dance or bring a creative idea to life help build confidence and self-esteem, giving children the rewarding experience of accomplishment - one they can carry into other areas of their often challenging lives.
Through art, music and movement, children are given a safe space to explore their creativity, express themselves freely and communicate emotions they may otherwise struggle to put into words.
FRIDAY's ENGLISH PRACTICE
Study All Week. Practice on Friday
Every Friday, volunteers help our EMPOWER kids practise the English they learn in their twice-weekly classes, helping them build valuable skills for a brighter future.
No special teaching skills are required. Our local English teachers lead the lessons and provide all exercises, while volunteers simply show up with a smile and support the kids as they practise. So no worries about your English level - if you can communicate in English, you’re already qualified to help and make a difference.

Saturday's Games & Sports
Saturday Is for Sports & Games!
Every Saturday is all about fun, laughter and movement as we play games and practise sports with the kids from our EMPOWER Program.
But these afternoons are about much more than just having fun. Through games and playful challenges, the kids learn teamwork, encouragement and fair play, while building confidence and healthy habits in a positive space where everyone feels included.

Our Dream: Lunch for Every Child
Our dream is to provide every child with a free, nutritious lunch whenever they come to the Happy Place.
For many of our kids, nutritious food at home is not always guaranteed. Coming to class hungry makes it harder to concentrate, learn and grow. A healthy meal gives them the energy and focus they need to make the most of every opportunity.
We want the Happy Place to be more than a place to learn. We want it to be a place where every child feels cared for, supported and knows that a nourishing meal is waiting for them.
